Passionate ministry partner Justin Robaye relies on MAF flights for faster and safer travels to reach Goz Beïda in eastern Chad.

Story by Annet Nabbanja

Justin sits next to pilot Phil in the front seat of the Cessna 182 as they share a long conversation, flying up towards the edge of the Sahara Desert.

This flight from the capital of N’Djamena to remote Goz Beïda is three hours long, so there’s ample time for a chat.

But three hours in a plane is nothing compared to the three days this journey would take by road.

A Chadian himself, Justin is travelling to the location where he sent missionaries to reach unreached people groups in his nation: the Fur, Fongoro, Daguel, Kunderje, Sabarkal, and Dadjo.

Justin is also flying with MAF to train church planters in Aradip and Koukou Angarana. Among those being trained are also leaders from neighbouring Sudan.

In 1994, while studying in Douala, Cameroon, Justin received a call from God.

“My desire to teach the Word of faith to my people and deliver them from religion was growing. This is what motivated me to return to Chad to launch a Bible training centre.”

Today, Justin trains disciples in N’Djamena and sends out missionaries to eastern Chad. His passion is to train leaders.

“My objective is to lead more people to read God’s Word,” says Justin. “It is a great joy for me to bring salvation to the nations through the knowledge of God’s Word.

“Our ministry transforms lives through the Word of faith that we teach,” he adds.

“The impact is very great because of the fruits of the work which are tangible.”

The biggest challenge he has faced is a lack of resources to expand his work across the country.

When he started his ministry, only by faith and with no support, he faced persecution from religious leaders. But over time the fruit of his ministry has drawn partners who provide support.

Born into a non-believing family, by God’s grace Justin now brings light through God’s Word to those who sit in darkness. He calls it his great joy to bring salvation to the nations through the knowledge of Scripture.

MAF flights allow Justin to reach the most remote places that are hard to access with the Gospel. But time saving is not the only factor Justin considers when making travel plans.

“We are spared from road bandits and robbers of all kinds,” he said. “MAF flights are fast and secure. They make our work easier and allow us to accomplish our mission more quickly.

Justin serves people groups that have long sat in darkness, which Justin says contributes to violence and poverty. And whereas people are thirsty for the Word, at the same time they fear persecution.
